Fess Up Friday

Wow, what a week in the confession department.

I went to workout on Monday, after a long time of not going to the Y (won't divulge how long), and the first thing I did when I got home, was eat a cookie 2 cookies, while making dinner.

I gave my 2 1/2 year old son privacy in the bathroom as he sat on his potty seat with poop stuck in his bottom. I went away for less than a minute to get wipes. When I came back there was Elijah standing up with a wad of toilet paper AND poop on his hand! I screamed-not at him, but a general ARGH at the grossness of the situation. So, I do realize that my screaming will probably dissuade and hinder our potty training efforts. Poor Eli will be scared to go potty for fear of me yelling.. Now, the irony of the situation is that this is the same kid we literally had to pull poop from his bottom, often getting it on OUR hands!

I wanted to go out and shovel while the kids napped on Tuesday. As I was about to head out, Elijah woke up. I tried to get him ready quickly as I knew Caleb would be waking up soon. We were not quick enough, however, as Caleb woke up as we were all bundled. I was determined to get out and shovel quickly, so I put him in the most secure thing we have-his exersaucer. Unfortunately Caleb was crying in it, so I put him in his bouncy seat. He was tolerable of it and secure (or so I thought).

I came back in to check on him after 5 minutes outside and he was fine. I went back out and checked on him 5 minutes later to find him like this:

And yes, I obviously didn't rescue him right away as I needed to grab the camera to document it, plus he wasn't complaining or crying about his position.

Finally, I often don't find 4 year old humor funny (that's a confession by itself), but I find myself laughing because Charlotte does and I do want her to think she is funny. On Thursday, while waiting to be let into school, Charlotte said, "My daddy ate a snow pancake last year," and then completely laughed hysterically at Greg's silliness. I laughed too, as my motherly duty. Then a couple of minutes later, she joined 2 of her friends and said the same thing. And for a very brief moment, parental worry set in, as I thought, I hope they laugh with her and find Charlotte funny. I admit that although, I don't always find Charlotte funny, I NEEDED her friends to, so that Charlotte fit in. (Yes, I felt all this in a millisecond.) Fortunately, Charlotte's 4 year old friends thought my little 4 year old was funny! Whew!
